DESCRIPTION:

The tradition of raisin wines from the Italian Minor Islands finds one of its greatest expressions in the Aleatico dell'Elba. The aromatic red grape variety of the same name, from the Muscat family, produces a naturally sweet wine, once celebrated and universally known.

The Aleatico "Alea Ludendo" is composed exclusively of grapes grown on Poggio Turco, on the tip of the Ripalte. The grapes are harvested when fully ripe, at the beginning of September; the grapes are dried on racks for a week in direct sunlight. This process gives the wine a strong character and remarkable personality.

After a short maceration on the skins, a slow fermentation continues until natural standstill due to the high residual sugar content. Aging in steel tanks and bottling in the summer after the harvest.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTE:

Consistent and fairly deep in colour, with the typical nuances of raisin wines. Aggressive nose, rich in primary aromas, flowers and slightly caramelized fruit; also a hint of Mediterranean maquis.

On the palate a great complexity with successive sensations of fruit and jam. The final notes are of great balance between sweetness and acidity, with a savoury component. The result is a clean and never tired taste, with persistent flavours of fruit and jam.

In addition to the classic combinations with cakes and dry pastries, this Aleatico finds in chocolate desserts an attractive partner. Another intriguing union can be achieved with spicy cheeses, blue or others.
