DESCRIPTION:
On the Island of Elba the tradition of viticulture has millenary origins: Pliny the Elder called it "The Island of good wine", while the wine amphorae of the Roman era, found in the wrecks lying on the seabed of Elba, tell the entire story of ancient navigation.
In more recent times, in the 18th century, Napoleon also left significant imprints, in addition to reorganizing the mining activities he significantly increased the production and export of wine.
Fattoria delle Ripalte, with its new Rosso delle Ripalte, follows the winemaking tradition of Elba by seeking to introduce innovative elements. The main grape variety of this wine, Grenache, common to the entire Mediterranean basin and also called Alicante, Cannonau and Garnacha, is perfectly suited for the dry and arid climate of the island.
The results are extraordinary, and would hardly have been obtained with any other grape variety, better suited to the difficult terrain of this area.
